UU Weekend at Silver Bay
Friends, fun, fellowship and fall foliage await you at a fantastic setting on Lake George! Please join us at the UU Weekend at Silver Bay from October 12-14, 2018.
Dr. William Schulz, former director of both Amnesty International and the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC), will address “Is Dignity Obsolete?” as this year’s featured Jeanne Blank Memorial speaker. Currently Dr. Schulz is a Senior Fellow at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
Enjoy music? The Albany-based Morris Code band will be back by popular demand! Our Saturday evening entertainment will feature an intergenerational dance with the Tamarack Band (http://www.tamarack-band.com). Tamarack brings the joyous touch of traditional fiddle tunes, reels, lively jigs, and smooth waltzes.
Reverend Kimberley Debus, who recently served as minister at First Universalist Church of Southold, New York, will lead the Sunday worship service. She is currently building a community ministry of the arts in the Capital Region.
Workshops and activities to date include a physics-based workshop on The Inner Workings of the Universe, Painting/Sketching, Tai Chi, Star Island Bead Making, Introduction to Meditation, Meet the World-Wide Goddess, Drumming, Photography, Social Media – Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and several hikes.
Don’t want to be on a workshop schedule? Here are a few of the activities you can enjoy on your own time table: archery, canoeing, fitness center, kayaking, labyrinth walks and self-guided trails, board games and puzzles, horseshoes, shuffleboard and tennis.
Discounted rates are still available! Register by Sept. 23 to receive the 2016 rate. Children under 6 are free with substantial discounts for older children and youth. AND, first-time visitors to Silver Bay receive an additional 10% discount! Access the registration form here.
