UUA General Assembly

June 19, 2019 |

General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). The 2019 General Assembly will be June 19-23 in Spokane, Washington, with the theme of “The Power of We.” It will explore the power, possibility, purpose, struggle and joy of finding the path forward together as Unitarian Universalists.

At GA, attendees worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy for the Association through democratic process. All are welcome to attend.  Our congregation has designated 8 voting delegates to represent Albany UU.

Logistics and Costs

GA Registration and the GA Housing Reservation System will opened March 1 at www.uua.org/ga/travel.  An adult registration costs $425. Hotel rooms at negotiated rates, and sometimes college dorm rooms and home hospitality, can be reserved through the GA web site. Most General Assembly events will be held in the Spokane Convention Center. GA participants find and pay for meals on their own, although there are typically many options inside and around the convention centers.

Programming

This year’s theme is about collective power, “The Power of We,” as well as the possibility, the purpose, the struggle and the joy of what it means to be together in faithful community. It is a time when we are asking big questions in our faith, and GA 2019 will be focused on digging into those questions together.

GA will offer more than 100 programming selections over the course of five days, including special programming by and for youth and young adults.  This GA will also help attendees build connections based on the roles they hold in their congregations, investing in the networks of mutual support that will sustain the work beyond the end of GA and into the coming year.  More programming details are available at www.uua.org/ga.
