At our November meeting, we will discuss Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell. The title refers to Shakespeare’s only son, who died at the age of 11 in the late 16th century.  Little historical evidence exists about the lives of Shakespeare and his family, so O’Farrell used her imagination to re-create the lives of Shakespeare, his wife Agnes (Anne), his daughter Susanna, and his twins, Hamnet and Judith. The book explores the relationship between the death of Hamnet and the play Hamlet, written four years after Hamnet’s death. The result is a fascinating and readable book.

In December, we will discuss Premonition, Michael Lewis’s book about the coronavirus pandemic.  In January, we will discuss Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi.
