At our December meeting, we will discuss The Premonition: A Pandemic Story by Michael Lewis. This book is a dissection of how the richest and best prepared country in the world allowed the coronavirus pandemic to become a national catastrophe. It tells the story of the futile efforts of a group of competent, dedicated people to get the federal government, including the Center for Disease Control, to quickly initiate the steps necessary to control the pandemic. The book demonstrates Lewis’s considerable skills as a writer of non-fiction.

In January, we will discuss Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi and, in February, Kazuo Ishiguro’s Klara and the Sun.
