Photos of the Sheridan Playground Project

The play equipment originally installed when Sheridan Preparatory Academy first opened in 2005 had been recycled from another Albany school. It consisted primarily of slides suitable for young children and provided few challenges for older students:

Here’s how the playground looked right after the October 8-9, 2016 installation of the new equipment:

The small pre-kindergarten/kindergarten set is in the far background on the right. (The brown equipment in the foreground is the one part of the old equipment that was retained and reinstalled.)

Since then, the district has installed engineered wood fiber surfaces, re-surfaced the asphalt, and installed a basketball hoop, paid for with donated funds. In August 2018, 16 volunteers painted colorful designs, hopscotch, mazes, etc., on the asphalt and an adjacent wall:
