Matt Edwards, Music Director
Matt has served as the music director of FUUSA since 2000. He received his music degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and has a Master’s Degree in Education from Walden University. Besides his work at FUUSA, Matt teaches choral music in Bennington, runs a piano studio in Greenwich, directs a community chorus in Cambridge, and performs with several local music groups. Matt is married to Mary Edwards, and is the proud father of Henry, Clara, and Oliver.
Amy Lent, Director of Member Services and Communications
Amy has served the FUUSA community as Church Administrator since 2002, following other jobs in the non-profit sector although none have been “as close to her heart” as this. She earned a B.A in Communications at the University at Albany, and has lived in the Capital Region since 1981. Amy serves on the Board of the Association of Unitarian Universalist Administrators and also on the St. Lawrence District Growth Committee. She is rehabbing an 1890 farmhouse, landscaping an acre around it, and wishing her first grandchild lived a whole lot closer.
Leah Purcell, Director of Religious Education
Leah began serving as Director of Religious Education in 2007. She graduated Vassar with a degree in psychology and was a teacher, co-administrator and teaching assistant in both public and private schools. She also served in leadership roles supporting and organizing volunteers in various political and community organizations. Leah was an active volunteer in FUUSA’s Religious Education program prior to entering her position as DRE. She taught Sunday school, served on the Religious Education Council both as a member and as chair, served as a youth advisor and helped organize UUA sponsored youth programs. Currently, she is a member of the Liberal Religious Educators Association and is enrolled in the UUA’s Religious Education Credentialing Program. The Purcells, Leah – her husband Kevin and daughters Molly and Nora – came to FUUSA in the mid-nineties when the girls were little, looking for a spiritual home in which to grow as a family. Leah serves the community she lives in as a trustee of the Valley Falls Free Library.
