ALBANY UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST celebrates Unitarian Universalism–a liberal, non-creedal, covenantal faith tradition that is based on a free and responsible search for truth and meaning and the inherent worth and dignity of every person. Guided by eight principles, Unitarian Universalists draw meaning from many faith traditions, embrace scientific reasoning, and express their beliefs through acts of social justice and compassion.
We are brave, curious, and compassionate thinkers and doers. We are diverse in faith, ethnicity, history and spirituality, but aligned in our desire to make a difference for the good of all. We have a track record of standing on the side of love, justice, and peace.
It is with gratitude and humility that we acknowledge that we are learning, speaking and gathering on the ancestral homelands of the Mohican people?who are the indigenous peoples of this land. Despite tremendous hardship in being forced from here, today their community resides in Wisconsin and is known as the Stockbridge-Munsee Community. We pay honor and respect to their ancestors past and present as we commit to building a more inclusive and equitable space for all.

Albany UU’s Congregational Covenant:
As a congregation with respect for our past and commitment to the future, we draw from the depth and power of our hearts and minds, guided by our Unitarian Universalist principles, to serve our mission and vision.
We celebrate the diversity of our identities and experiences,
and foster a culture of appreciation, inspiration, and kindness.
We honor both the strength of the collective and uniqueness of the individual, willing to support and challenge each other with love and compassion.
We entrust ourselves to each other in beloved community, to embolden personal and congregational growth and transformation.
We have radical roots and a history as self-motivated seekers of truth and meaning. In our beliefs, we draw on the world’s many sources of wisdom, spirituality and critical thought, as well as our life experiences.
We are people of many beliefs and backgrounds: people with a religious background, people with none, people who believe in a God, people who don’t, and people who let the mystery be.
We are Unitarian Universalist and Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Humanist, Jewish, Muslim, Pagan, atheist and agnostic, believers in God, and more.
On the forefront of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer inclusion for more than 40 years, we are people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Albany UU is a Welcoming Congregation.
