Albany UU belongs to its members

Through our democratic process, members shape the direction of the congregation, elect our Board of Trustees, and call our minister as our religious leader and head of staff.

Our mission, vision, and congregational covenant provide a foundation for how we work together and make decisions.

This page introduces the people and groups who help lead and operate Albany UU, how they work together, and how you can connect with them.

Board Meetings

Board meetings are generally held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM on Zoom.

Board meetings are open to the congregation. Guests are welcome to observe meetings and may be invited to share a report or relevant information. Each monthly meeting includes time for Open Business, when guests may ask questions or offer comments. The Board welcomes input from members and friends about topics and needs that are important to the congregation.

Ministry and Operations Team

The Ministry and Operations Team (MOT) works with the Minister to oversee the day-to-day operations and ministry programs of Albany UU.

The MOT consists of the Minister and up to five lay leaders appointed by the Board, with overlapping two-year terms. Guided by Board policies, the MOT develops, organizes, and manages the congregation’s programs and operations and is accountable to the Board for its work.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee helps safeguard the congregation’s financial health and supports responsible stewardship of our resources.

The committee manages the annual budget, monitors budgeted income, expenses, and capital expenditures, and monitors cash and investments. The committee also manages Albany UU’s insurance policy, consults on facilities rental policies, and helps develop and refine financial policies.

Finance Committee Meetings

The Finance Committee typically meets once a month. If you submit an agenda item or question, you will receive information about the next scheduled meeting.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee helps ensure that Albany UU has candidates for open elected positions at the Annual Congregational Meeting.

Committee members draw on their knowledge of the congregation to identify potential candidates and encourage new leaders to consider stepping into positions of responsibility. Their work helps us build a strong and diverse pool of congregational leaders.
