At Albany UU, we mark the moments that shape our lives. From welcoming new life to celebrating commitments and honoring those we have lost, we create space for reflection, meaning, and community. Our ministers and staff work with you to design services that reflect your values, your story, and the people you love.

Weddings

Weddings witness one of life’s most joyful transitions, as two people commit their lives to one another.

At Albany UU, we work with couples to create a ceremony that reflects their relationship, values, and beliefs. Our ministers collaborate closely with couples to design a service that feels personal, meaningful, and authentic.

We welcome and officiate weddings for all couples, including same-sex and gender-diverse couples, and affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

Child Dedication

Child dedications celebrate new life and formally welcome a child into the support and care of the congregation.

We create these brief, family-centered services in collaboration with parents or caregivers, our minister, and religious educator. They are typically held during Sunday worship so the whole congregation can take part in welcoming the child.

A dedication often includes a blessing, words of hope from parents or caregivers, and a congregational promise of support and care.

Memorial Services

Memorial services honor the life of someone who has died and create space for remembrance, gratitude, and reflection.

We work with family members and friends to design a service that reflects the unique life, values, and story of the person being remembered. Services may be held in our Sanctuary or Community Hall and shaped to reflect the tone and traditions that feel right for those gathered.

A service may include music, readings, stories, reflection, and time for sharing memories. For Albany UU members, our Receptions Team also welcomes family and friends to Channing Hall after the service, providing a warm space to gather, share memories, and continue connecting with one another.
