Our members are the foundation of the Albany Unitarian Universalist congregation. Through democratic process, members have adopted the congregation’s mission statement, vision, and congregational covenant. Members also called the Minister as our religious leader and head of staff, and elected the Board of Trustees. Regular meetings of these governing bodies are publicized and generally open to the congregation. 

The Board of Trustees is an elected body that determines matters of policy and strategic direction. They provide oversight of administrative functions and congregational programs to include officers, employees, teams and committees. The Albany Unitarian Universalist mission and vision provides the direction for these efforts.

The Ministry and Operations Team consists of the Minister, the Congregation Administrator, the Director of Programs for Children and Youth, and four lay leaders appointed by the Board with overlapping two-year terms. This team develops, organizes, and manages the programs and operations of the congregation. They are guided by the policies of the Board and accountable to the Board for their work. The Minister convenes the Ministry and Operations Team.

The Board, the Ministry and Operations Team, and the Finance Committee work closely together to ensure that the needs of the congregation are met and the mission and vision of Albany UU is carried out.
