One of my favorite bloggers is John Pavlovitz, a former mega church minister who became too liberal to stay in that role. He is now a writer and speaker – often at UU churches. His most recent blog was “Don’t Lose Your Light This Christmas.” John wrote, “…whatever you do, in days when darkness seems to be winning, when so many feel as though they are close to being extinguished: please don’t lose your light.” One of my favorite songs a million years ago when I was in our church youth group [LRY] was “This Little Liberal Light of Mine, I’m gonna let it shine.” My most recent sermon was based on a modern hymn, “A Place at the Table.” It speaks to the nature of our “Liberal Light.” That is what I have on tap for my sermon on Sunday the 29th.
