Join Rev. Ashley DeTar Birt, from New York Unitarian Universalist Justice (NYUUJ), and friends from across the Hudson Mohawk cluster of UU congregations, as we explore how social justice isn’t just something one does to help others; it is communal, spiritual work that unites us across backgrounds and helps us all.

This year’s annual worship service will be held at 10:30 am on Sunday, April 14th at the UU Society of Schenectady, 1221 Wendell Ave., 12308. All ages will begin in the worship service, and then after a story, religious education professionals from several of our congregations will lead activities for children and youth in the UU Schenectady classrooms. A potluck finger food social hour and social justice planning session will follow the service and activities, so if you are able, please bring some finger food to share.

About the guest minister: Rev. Ashley DeTar Birt (she/her) is the Program Manager for NYUUJ, our UU state advocacy network. She is also the Co-Director for The Center for Jubilee Practice. Ordained as a Presbyterian minister, she is an outspoken advocate for youth ministry and social justice who has worked as a youth leader, Children, Youth and Family Pastor, and artistic and justice minister. She lives in New York City with her wife Emily, who is a UU minister in North Westchester.
